Garena announced its Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a six month-long professional gaming competition that features hundreds of online games. The first season of GPL will be comprised of a League of Legends competition which includes six professional teams. The teams are made up of some of the most talented players in their respective countries. GPL games and commentary can be streamed on the internet. The public can view games via the GPL website. In January of 2013, Garena revealed they would be launching Garena Premier League's season two will begin on January 4, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, which began on 4 January 2013 will feature two teams that are each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. This brings the number of teams up to eight. They include AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur), Manila Eagles(Manila) Taiwan Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports Arena, an esports venue is a venue that was inaugurated in November 2014 in Neihu District of Taipei. The stadium was constructed partially to accommodate the beginning of the League of Legends Masters Series that is the most elite Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as the Macau LoL league which was a spun-off from the GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. It is a monthly event which is played in the second part of each month. The event is designed to encourage participation of communities with low representation and is open for anyone who identifies as such. Garena not only organizes tournaments but also organizes offline gatherings and social events that enable users to interact. Garena organizes events like the Garena carnival which occurs annually in Singapore as well as Malaysia.
