RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character was invented by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and voiced by Naomi Watts, serves as the main character in The Ring and The Ring Two which share a number of similarities to Reiko Asakawa from the original Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who must figure out how to avoid death after having to watch a video that was cursed that she discovers while investigating the death of her niece. Rachel is required to dig into the background of Samara Morgan when her son is diagnosed with a mysterious illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller as an investigative journalist to discover the reason for Katie's death. Rachel discovers through her that Katie was healthy , and that she found Katie's disfigured body in the closet. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend that surrounds the tape with the curse and the story of Katie's friend Becca was taken to an institution due to Katie's demise. She also discovers that Katie's boyfriend and two of her friends were killed in bizarre accidents the same night around 10 pm. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays at Cabin 12, which is the same cabin where Katie and her friends saw the videotape they believed was cursed. Rachel discovers the tape and then watches the tape. When the phone rings, it is. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel looks to Noah Clay, her ex-boyfriend as well as a video analyst for help. Rachel discovers later that Aidan Noah's son watched the tape, as Noah was calling her. He tells Rachel that he believes Rachel. Rachel investigates the tape for the lighthouse and discovers it's located on Moesko Island. This was the home of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder cursed to be on the tape with the cursed name. After investigating, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara who had the ability to create disturbing images into the minds of humans including animals, people and even objects. Rachel gets to know Anna's widower Richard, but he makes her leave as she begins to ask questions about Samara.
